A new post has been published on the EHRI Document Blog entitled The Extermination of Jews in the Kalinindorf Jewish National Raion of 1941, written by Alexander Kruglov. It is already the 19th contribution to the “Holocaust in Ukraine” series.

The article examines the extermination of Jews in the Kalinindorf Jewish National Raion in the fall of 1941 and offers a rich selection of the relevant archival documents. It is available in both the Russian original and an English translation.

You can read both versions on the EHRI Document Blog:

The extermination of Jews in the Kalinindorf Jewish National Raion in the fall of 1941

The Kalinindorf Jewish National Raion, established in 1927 as the first Jewish national district in the Soviet Union, became a site of mass violence after the German occupation of southern Ukraine in 1941. Based on archival records, the article reconstructs the massacres, revises victim estimates, and examines the role of local collaborators. It also shows how additional archival evidence expands understanding of the scale of the killings and highlights the lack of postwar accountability.
