Holocaust Testimonies Portal: A New EHRI-ERIC Project

In September 2026, a new international project, the Holocaust Testimonies Portal, was launched to create a unified online portal for searching and connecting Holocaust testimonies across institutions worldwide.

In September 2026, a new international project, the Holocaust Testimonies Portal, was launched. Its goal is to create a unified online portal for discovering and linking Holocaust testimonies that are currently dispersed across archives and collection-holding institutions around the world.

The portal will enable users to search for testimony metadata across diverse institutions while interconnecting related information on witnesses, locations, dates of recording, and various manifestations or copies. The project will significantly facilitate access to these essential historical sources for researchers, educators, and the general public.

The first phase of the project, focusing on scoping and requirements gathering, runs from September 2026 to April 2027. Participating partners include EHRI-ERIC, the Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI), Kazerne Dossin, the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO), and the Masaryk Institute and Archives of the Czech Academy of Sciences (MÚA).

The project is funded by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference), with completion scheduled for 2030.
